Synopsis ~ Tia D'Amico is thrilled to move to San Francisco to help her aunt transform an old luxury yacht into an upscale floating restaurant. What's not to love? Besides, some of her best memories are tied to San Francisco--especially the memory of Leo Parker, her crush from a long-ago sailing camp.

When the self same Leo Parker turns out to be the yacht's captain, Tia is floating on air. But will it all come crashing down around her when she discovers his heart belongs to someone else?

Get ready for a romantic summer in San Francisco, where the future glistens brighter than the bay at sunset.

All Summer Long by Melody Carlson is a delightful book that I really enjoyed! It has everything needed for great romance reading ~ a swoon worthy setting (San Francisco), realistic characters, an engaging story line, humor mixed in with second chances and the ups and downs of romance. Add in a few unexpected surprises and the story just gets better and better.

All Summer Long  brought a smile to my face and a warmth to my heart ~ the kind you get when you read a wonderful romance story.  I definitely recommend adding this book to your summer beach reads or for your reading pleasure any time of the year!

Sea Rose Lane by Irene Hannon

  • Series: Hope Harbor
  • Publisher: Revell (June 7, 2016)
  • ISBN-10: 0800727541
  • ISBN-13: 978-0800727543

Synopsis:

After a devastating layoff, attorney Eric Nash heads back to the town where he grew up--only to discover that his childhood home is being transformed into a bed & breakfast. Instead of plotting his next career move in peace, he's constantly distracted by noise, chaos--and BJ Stevens, the attractive but prickly blonde architect and construction chief who's invaded the house with her motley crew.

As for BJ, her client's son might be handsome, but after a disastrous romance, dating isn't high on her agenda. Yet when they join forces to create a program for Hope Harbor seniors, might they also find healing, hope, and a new beginning themselves?

Sea Rose Lane  by Irene Hannon is the second book in her Hope Harbor series. I was introduced to Ms. Hannon's books last year when I read Hope Harbor  and fell head over heels for this series. Don't you just love when you find a new-to-you author and a series you can dive into? I sure do!

Ms. Hannon's writing style is compelling and Sea Rose Lane was a wonderful read!  The setting for this story (and series) is one of the things I really enjoyed ~ a quiet sea side town where everyone knows each other. The characters have depth, are realistic and engaging.  The story captured my interest from start to finish.  I was definitely sad to reach the ending.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this faith based romance and can't wait to read the third book in this series ~ Sand Piper Cove being released in April 2017!

What isn't written, isn't remembered. Even your crimes. Nadia lives in the city of Canaan, where life is safe and structured, hemmed in by white stone walls and no memory of what came before. But every twelve years the city descends into the bloody chaos of the Forgetting, a day of no remorse, when each person's memories -- of parents, children, love, life, and self -- are lost. Unless they have been written.

In Canaan, your book is your truth and your identity, and Nadia knows exactly who hasn't written the truth. Because Nadia is the only person in Canaan who has never forgotten.

But when Nadia begins to use her memories to solve the mysteries of Canaan, she discovers truths about herself and Gray, the handsome glassblower, that will change her world forever. As the anarchy of the Forgetting approaches, Nadia and Gray must stop an unseen enemy that threatens both their city and their own existence - before the people can forget the truth. And before Gray can forget "her."

Ivory and Bone by Julie Eshbaugh

  • Publisher: HarperTeen (June 7, 2016)
  • ISBN-10: 006239925X
  • ISBN-13: 978-0062399250

Synopsis:

Hunting, gathering, and keeping his family safe—that’s the life seventeen-year-old Kol knows. Then bold, enigmatic Mya arrives from the south with her family, and Kol is captivated. He wants her to like and trust him, but any hopes of impressing her are ruined when he makes a careless—and nearly grave—mistake. However, there’s something more to Mya’s cool disdain…a history wrought with loss that comes to light when another clan arrives. With them is Lo, an enemy from Mya’s past who Mya swears has ulterior motives.
As Kol gets to know Lo, tensions between Mya and Lo escalate until violence erupts. Faced with shattering losses, Kol is forced to question every person he’s trusted. One thing is for sure: this was a war that Mya or Lo—Kol doesn’t know which—had been planning all along.

Being a huge fan of Jean M. Auel's writings, I was excited  to hear about Ivory and Bone, a debut novel set in the ancient ice age era.

Ms. Eshbaugh has written a novel that is very creative and eloquent. Her lyrical and descriptive prose surpass that of many seasoned authors.

The story moved at a steady pace and the subtle tension continues to increase as the story progresses to significant action towards the end of the book. I enjoyed reading Ivory and Bone!

The Marked Girl by Lindsey Klingele

  • Publisher: HarperTeen (June 7, 2016)
  • ISBN-10: 0062380338
  • ISBN-13: 978-0062380333

Synopsis:

Worlds collide in Lindsey Klingele’s debut young adult novel, The Marked Girl, an exciting fantasy tale turned upside down. Elissa Sussman, author of Stray, calls The Marked Girl “a magical debut with a big heart.”
When Cedric, crowned prince of Caelum, and his fellow royal friends (including his betrothed, Kat) find themselves stranded in modern-day LA via a magical portal and an evil traitor named Malquin, all they want to do is get home to Caelum—soon.
Then they meet Liv, a filmmaker foster girl who just wants to get out of the system and on with her life. As she and Cedric bond, they’ll discover that she’s more connected to his world than they ever could’ve imagined…and that finding home is no easy task.

The Marked Girl is a fantastical tale full of action, adventure, a bit of horror (ie - the wraths), some betrayal and a whole lot of fighting off the bad guys as the good guys try to save two worlds from the evil plans of a madman.  Has this caught your interest yet?!

I enjoyed the humor and heart that the author wrote into this story. It lightened up the plot and made this a truly enjoyable read!

The book's ending is definitely a cliff hanger so I was happy to read that this book is part of a duology! Needless to say, I can't wait to read book 2.

Stitches in Time by Terri Dulong

  • Series: Ormand Beach
  • Publisher: Lyrical Press
  • ISBN-10: 160183554X
  • ISBN-13: 978-1601835543

Releasing June 7, 2016!

Synopsis:

Isabelle Wainwright is no stranger to heartache. She was just fifteen when her mother left her to be raised by her father so she could start a new life across the country. Rather than crumbling in despair, Isabelle eventually stitched together her own path, graduating from college and starting a family in Atlanta. But her hard-won fairytale ending is beginning to unravel. . .
The shock of her father's sudden death is compounded when Isabelle's husband leaves her and her daughter for someone else. Reeling from being abandoned yet again, she finds comfort in Chloe Radcliffe, her father's girlfriend, who encourages her to move to Ormond Beach, Florida, and help her run her yarn shop. There, Isabelle may find the strength to confront her past, build new friendships, and perhaps even learn to love in a way she never thought possible.

Stitches in Time is the second book in Ms. DuLong's Ormand Beach series though it can be read as a stand alone book. It's a  heartwarming tale of love lost, a new life and love found but most importantly ~ growing and finding one's self after facing life's challenges.

{Likes}

I enjoyed reading Stitches In Time!  My favorite things? How realistic and engaging the characters in this book are and I enjoyed reading/experiencing the deep friendships between the main character and her women friends.  It is so true that good, close friendships make such a positive difference in life!

{Things Wished For}

I didn't have anything that I really disliked in this book but I did have a  few wishes.

Main Wish ~ I would have liked to have seen the friendship between Isabelle (main character) and Brenda (new friend) become more developed in this story. They met through their daughter's and it looked like they were becoming good friends but then that sub-plot fell to the wayside as the rest of Isabelle's story unfolded.

I felt like Brenda and her daughter had a story to tell so maybe (hopefully) Ms. DuLong will write a book about them before she is done with this series!

Stitches in Time was as great a read as the first book in this series, Patterns of Change. I can't wait for the next book in this series to be released!

The Hearts We Mend: A Banister Falls Novel by Kathryn Springer

  • Series: A Banister Falls Novel
  • Publisher: Zondervan; Reprint edition (March 8, 2016)
  • ISBN-10: 0310339723
  • ISBN-13: 978-0310339724

Synopsis:

Planning and Post-It notes are the epitome of Evie’s life. But when she meets Jack, her life gets more than a little complicated.
Thirteen years ago, Evie's firefighterhusband was killed in the line of duty, leaving her to raise their young son, Cody, alone. Now, Cody is marrying the love of his life, and as he packs up his belongings, the house feels as empty as Evie's heart. But for all her planning and mad organizational skills, Evie could never have anticipated the dramatic shift her life is about to make.
Tattooed, rough-around-the-edgesJack raises quite a few eyebrows in the tight-knit community of Banister Falls. Where Evie's life is stream-lined, Jack's approach to living is moment-by-moment. But as Evie gets drawn into Jack's world—a world that isn't as safe or predictable as the one she's worked so hard to create—he challenges her to open her eyes to the problems outside the walls of the church.
Jack doesn't make Evie feel comfortable, but he definitely makes her feel something. Something she hasn't felt since Max passed away—or, maybe ever. Because even though Jack isn't anything like her late husband, he just might be everything she needs.

The Heart's We Mend by Kathryn Springer is the first book I've read from this author and I will be  most assuredly be checking out more of her books in the future!

I found this story to be heartwarming, engaging and very well written. The characters were realistic, believable and well developed.  The Plot? A most definite thumbs up for the twists and turns that were weaved into this romantic tale.

All in all, I really enjoyed The Heart's We Mend and I'm looking forward to reading more of MS. Springer's books!

My recommendation? Definitely add this book to your Summer Reading!

The Beautiful Pretender by Melanie Dickerson

  • Series: A Medieval Fairy Tale (Book 2)
  • Publisher: Thomas Nelson (May 17, 2016)
  • ISBN-10: 0718026284
  • ISBN-13: 978-0718026288

Synopsis:

After inheriting his title from his brother, the margrave has two weeks to find a noble bride. What will happen when he learns he has fallen for a lovely servant girl in disguise?
The Margrave of Thornbeck has to find a bride, fast. He invites ten noble born ladies who meet the king’s approval to be his guests at Thornbeck Castle for two weeks, a time to test these ladies and reveal their true character.
Avelina has only two instructions: keep her true identity a secret and make sure the margrave doesn’t select her as his bride. Since the latter seems unlikely, she concentrates on not getting caught. No one must know she is merely a maidservant, sent by the Earl of Plimmwald to stand in for his daughter, Dorothea.
Despite Avelina’s best attempts at diverting attention from herself, the margrave has taken notice. And try as she might, she can’t deny her own growing feelings. But something else is afoot in the castle. Something sinister that could have far worse—far deadlier—consequences.

I have only read a few of Ms. Dickerson's books and while I have enjoyed them all, The Beautiful Pretender is my absolute favorite!

This re-telling of Beauty and the Beast is recognizable as the age old fairy tale but with such a fresh, unique and engaging twist that it is a delight to read.  It's a love story that will warm your heart!

Finding Fraser by KC Dyer

  • Publisher: Berkley (May 3, 2016)
  • Language: English
  • ISBN-10: 0399584366
  • ISBN-13: 978-0399584367

Synopsis:

I met Jamie Fraser when I was nineteen years old. He was tall, red-headed, and at our first meeting at least, a virgin. He was, in fact, the perfect man.

That he was fictional hardly entered into it...

On the cusp of thirty, Emma Sheridan is desperately in need of a change. After a string of failed relationships, she can admit that no man has ever lived up to her idea of perfection: the Scottish fictional star of romantic fantasies the world over—James Alexander Malcolm MacKenzie Fraser.

Her ideal man might be ripped from the pages of a book, but Emma hopes that by making one life-altering decision she might be able to turn fiction into fact. After selling all her worldly possessions, Emma takes off for Scotland with nothing but her burgeoning travel blog to confide in.

But as she scours the country’s rolling green hills and crumbling castles, Emma discovers that in searching for her own Jamie Fraser, she just might find herself.

I have loved the Outlander series since it was first released and when I came across the romance book, Finding Fraser where the heroine runs to Scotland to "Find her Jamie", how could I not read it?!

This book is sweet, funny with some seriousness here and there. Mix in romance and self discovery for the heroine and it comes out to be a really great story well worth the reading.

Definitely one I recommend adding to your Beach Reads this summer!
